What the Dead End sign means
This yellow diamond warns that the road ahead ends completely with no way through — it simply terminates and you cannot continue to another street. Unlike a through street, a dead-end road stops, so you will have to turn around to leave. It is posted at the entrance to such roads so you do not drive in expecting to exit the other side. If you are looking for a through route, choose a different road. Slow down as the end approaches so you have room to turn around safely.
What to do when you see it
Expect the road to end with no through route; if you need to pass through, take a different street.
