What the No Right Turn sign means
A red circle and slash over a black right-turn arrow means right turns are prohibited at this location. You must continue straight or follow another permitted movement instead. These signs guard intersections where a right turn would cross a one-way street the wrong way, conflict with heavy pedestrian traffic, or create a hazard. The restriction applies at the intersection where the sign is posted. Some versions include a time plate limiting the ban to certain hours, so read any attached panel before you assume the turn is always closed.
What to do when you see it
Do not turn right here; go straight or use another legal route, and check any time plate for restricted hours.
On the CA permit test
A red circle-and-slash over an arrow bans that movement entirely.
