What the No Trucks sign means
A truck symbol inside a red circle and slash means trucks are prohibited on this road. It is posted where weight, height, noise, or narrow residential streets make truck traffic unsafe or unwelcome, routing large vehicles onto designated truck routes instead. The ban usually applies to commercial trucks over a stated weight, and a plate may spell out the limit. Passenger cars and pickups are not affected. Truck drivers who ignore it can be cited and may find themselves on a road they cannot safely navigate or turn around on.
What to do when you see it
If you are driving a prohibited truck, do not enter — follow the marked truck route instead.
On the CA permit test
