What the Disabled Parking Only sign means
This sign reserves the parking space for vehicles displaying a valid disabled-person placard or license plate. In California it shows the International Symbol of Access and often lists the fine for violations. Parking there without proper credentials — even briefly, even just to wait — is illegal and carries a steep penalty. The reserved space, its diagonally striped access aisle, and the curb ramp must stay clear. Blocking the striped loading aisle next to the space is also a violation, because that space is needed for wheelchair and lift access.
What to do when you see it
Park here only with a valid disabled placard or plate, and never block the striped access aisle beside the space.
On the CA permit test
These spaces and their striped aisles are for placard or plate holders only — parking without one is a serious fine.
